Near-Death Experience (NDE)
The common theme for those who experience an NDE is a personal transformation of faith and love with a renewed purpose for life.

Though NDE survivors come from a wide variety of backgrounds, the thousands who have endured a near-death experience amazingly have similar tales and attitudes afterwords. Not only are they comparable, but their unique descriptions also feature narratives that portray the universe as described by both the Bible and quantum theory.
Criteria for Near Death Experiences
Keep in mind, the near-death experience (NDE) accounts referenced within this webpage are not those who merely claim to have experienced an NDE, they are the documented cases of those who had endured a serious accident, a disease, or had been temporarily declared dead by a medical professional, and one way or another, they still survived. The vast majority of near-death experiences occur in emergency rooms, at the location of a violent incident, or in an operating room.
Historical data published from a variety of books like Life After Life and Consciousness Beyond Life, or the academic studies from thousands of personal accounts reveal striking trends. No two documented accounts are the same, yet most are amazingly similar.
NDEs usually include a similar combination of the same fourteen or fifteen elements. Those who experience a more in-depth near-death experience will often describe as many as nine or ten from this list.
Despite the amazing similarities of all documented NDE accounts (numbering in the thousands), no two are the same. Most only experience a few elements from the list above. No one is known to have experienced all of them. And no individual element is experienced by everyone.
There are two primary categories of people who live through a near death experience.
-
People who were resuscitated after being judged or pronounced to be dead.
-
People who were severely injured or were involved in a serious accident and came very close to death.

Common NDE Themes and Experiences
Here is a list of common experiences compiled from a variety of studies that represent thousands of NDE survivors. To clarify, survivors are those who have been clinically diagnosed by a medical professional to have experienced a near death experience.
This list is organized, first to last, with two criteria. The first is the chronological order that the events usually occur. The second criteria are the most common in occurrence.
-
For those who were resuscitated, one of the most common events is hearing a doctor or nurse pronounce them dead. This has most often occurred after a cardiac arrest.
-
Another event that often occurs at the start of an NDE, is the individual hearing a ringing or buzzing sound. Some have also referred to a sound similar to a Japanese wind chime.
-
Most will usually see their own body from the outside within the same environment. It is also very common to witness other people reacting to their situation or trying to help revive them.
-
For those who had an out of body episode, they often remembered trying to communicate with the living or touching objects to no avail.
-
Before long, it is typical for the individual to get accustomed to their condition.
-
Next, many refer to the sensation of being in the dark or a tunnel with a bright light or opening at the end, often accompanied by the sensation of moving towards the light.
-
They usually notice that they still have a body. But it is not the same either. This body is quite debatable, often described in different manners by those who took notice. It is not described as a human-like body, but they did have something similar to eyes, arms and hands with very different powers and senses.
-
They often notice that they do not feel hot or cold. It’s as if they feel numb, no more pain.
-
Before long, they meet other individuals or spirits. They often meet deceased relatives or those that they knew who had already died.
-
Amazingly, they do not hear like humans, as they can now detect the thoughts from those that they communicate with.
-
They can also not just see, but their sight can actually travel incredible distances, almost as if they can see wherever their own thought patterns take them.
-
It's quite common for them to meet a bright spirit who is very comforting and wise. This spiritual being will often help them vividly relive crucial events from their lives with astounding accuracy in rapid occurrence, always offering valuable insight.
-
At some point near the end of the NDE, they will come to a barrier or border that is possibly thought to be the defined limit between our earthly life and the afterlife.
-
They are commonly told that their life on Earth is not over and they must return. Survivors usually admit that they would have stayed in the euphoric realm.
-
Intense feelings of peace are normal for everyone who has had this experience. Despite this sensation, they were reunited with their bodies to continue their lives.

An Indescribable Experience
Those who have experienced an NDE event always say they have a hard time explaining what they felt, saw, and heard. The multidimensional aspects of the NDE are said to be indescribable in Earthly terms. Experiencing amazing sensations of love and peace with astounding visualizations of light and space are the most common descriptions.
Most witnesses admit to encountering marvelous heartwarming spiritual beings and astounding environments that consistently include indescribable multidimensional realms that intersect with space and time.
For those who have endured a NDE, there are many distinct trends and commonalities with witness testimony. Most will typically say they are not able to find the proper words to describe the incredible visuals and lessons they have witnessed.
And after contemplating their experiences, in hindsight, it begins to make more sense, painting a vivid purpose. This must be because words are based on what humans can sense or imagine during our physical life. How can a human have words for concepts and visual experiences that were previously unknown.
Is the barrier that is often mentioned, the same high frequency barrier between our 3D universe and the multi-2D high frequency energyverse that mounting scientific evidence theorizes to create gravity? Is there a specific personal reason or purpose as to why certain people witness a near death experience, while the vast majority will not?

Lessons Learned from an NDE Life Review
There is a common list of themes for those who experienced a rapid, panoramic review of significant life events during a near-death experience.
1) The review was enlightening and transformational. Witnesses usually claim that the experience had a positive effect regarding problem relationships. They learned critical lessons and gained a new perspective on emotions and communication skills.
2) They found a new purpose to life with added motivation to overcome insurmountable obstacles and unfinished business.
3) They have acquired more compassion and empathy towards others and new compulsion to get involved in charity in one form or another. This is often due to the overwhelming amount of love that they experienced from those that they encountered during their NDE.
4) They learned that they should never stop seeing life as an opportunity to grow and acquire more knowledge. One witness said that they now understood that no matter how old you are, never stop learning. They now know that this is a process that continues through eternity.
5) NDE witnesses are usually humbled and become much more sincere. Most admit that the experience opened their hearts as they discovered their own shortcomings.
6) There is a profound change in the attitude of NDE survivors towards their own mortality. They no longer fear death. They now see it as a natural transition, several mentioning they see it as an escape from personal strife, a graduation or even a homecoming!
7) Most importantly, NDE survivors became closer to God. They now have a renewed faith in Christ, life's purpose, past loved ones and unfinished ministerial work regarding relationships.

Is There a Primary Purpose for an NDE
Many ask about the spiritual being that provides discernment during the astonishingly vivid review of their life. Could this be Christ, the Holy Spirit or a guardian angel that has watched over the individual during their lives? The best guess may be found in the scriptures where it confirms that those who authored the Bible were inspired by the Holy Spirit.
Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about
by the prophet’s own interpretation of things.
For prophecy never had its origin in the human will,
but prophets, though human,
spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.
- 2 Peter 1:20-21 (NIV)
Known as the Great Helper, the Holy Spirit exists to provide mankind with discernment, spiritual wisdom and greater knowledge. NDE evidence likely implies that they are used by God as a gift of grace to become closer to the Holy Spirit by receiving insight on past events and new-found discernment for future opportunities to help fulfill one's purpose with God's plan for their lives.
But the Helper, the Holy Spirit,
whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things
and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.
- John 14:26 (ESV)
Here are a couple of examples where ethics and work are mentioned in the Bible.
"Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established."
- Proverbs 16:3 (ESV)
"All hard work brings a profit,
but mere talk leads only to poverty."
- Proverbs 14:23 (NIV)
NDEs appear to often serve a unique purpose for those who experience them. It's as if there is something very important that they needed to understand about the way they were living their lives, to fix past wrongs or possibly inspire great works in the future.
Ultimately, a few of primary themes are revealed through interviews:
1) They learned to appreciate the gift of life, 2) love with greater compassion and 3) are inspired to keep acquiring new knowledge.
Exhibiting love is the primary message found throughout the Bible.
"So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three;
but the greatest of these is love."
- 1 Corinthians 13:13 (ESV)
"Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love."
- 1 John 4:7-12 (ESV)
An NDE to Serve as a Warning
On rare occasions people reported nightmarish, or even demonic experiences. For these individuals their experience obviously served as a fortunate warning to make major life changes regarding the course of their lives and how they interact with those around them.
Having a nightmarish NDE was also more common for those who tried to commit suicide. Many of these individuals claimed that they learned from their NDE experience that the timing of their eventual death is not of their own choosing.
"Or do you not know that your body is a temple
of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God?
You are not your own, for you were bought with a price.
So, glorify God in your body."
- 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 (ESV)
